Victoria-based science writer Jude Isabella has a deep-rooted fascination with critters, big and small. For the Fall 2013 feature article “The secret lives of bears,” she immersed herself in current research on B.C.’s black and grizzly bears.
On a recent trip to the central coast with Bluewater Adventures, she had the opportunity to further explore the “salmon ecosystem,” and the coastal grizzly’s role within it, alongside naturalist and bear guide Jennifer Kingsley.
In this short video, edited by Christopher Hink, Kingsley explains how a trained guide looks for bears along the coast.
Don’t miss “In the field with bear biologists,” another excellent video about bears by Jude Isabella.
