Taves Farms in Abbotsford is celebrating 35 years of fall experiences. The season begins with the Magic Of Sunflowers on Aug. 21, transitioning to the Magic Of Fall on Sept. 13.
The Magic Of Sunflowers invites guests to wander through the vibrant blooms and to interact with various photo spots from a whimsical bridge and vintage bikes to fairytale gnomes and their new gnome home. From Aug. 21 to Sept. 7, guests are invited to set their intentions, and to release a butterfly among the sunflowers or to experience the farm during golden hour for a stroll and sip cider and cocktail evening.
“Celebrating 35 years has given us the chance to reflect on the joy this farm has brought to so many people. What started out as a small family dream has grown into acres of vibrant pumpkin and apple experiences where our imaginations have run wild. We’ve been blessed to pioneer agritourism in our own way — from the thrill of the pumpkin cannon to the magical pumpkin garden. Every season is about creating moments where friends and families laugh, explore, and make memories,” says Loren Taves, co-owner of Taves Farms.
As a third-generation farmer, Loren Taves started farming in the 1980s when he, and his brother, recognized the potential of niche crops and started growing gooseberries and currants. Today, Taves Farms consists of 50 acres of goji berries, strawberries, currants, corn, pumpkins, apples, pears, and plums. With a dream to invite local communities to the farm, Loren and his wife, Corinne, created their fall operation 35 years ago.
From Sept. 13 until the end of the season on Oct. 31, the Magic Of Fall returns with the Most Magical Pumpkin Garden in Canada, the enchanting pumpkin patch and princess carriage and acres of vibrant apple orchards and autumn lanes, creating those quintessential fall visuals.
Other key attractions include three corn mazes and over 30 acres of fall fun including a hayride through the farm, adult-suited jumping pillows, and the most adorable farm animals to snuggle including alpacas to goats.
While the concessions carry everything from freshly roasted corn to pumpkin-spiced lattés, food trucks will also be available on select dates. At Taves Estate Cidery, guests are invited to spend time in the covered and heated patio with their friends, families and pets to enjoy soft apple ciders and mocktails along with seasonal cocktails and cider favourites – Pete’s Perry, Pete’s Pumpkin Perry and Charlie’s Pumpkin Cider.
